Often times if not all the times in our lives we are expected to deliver – to be something, to do something, to exceed, to be the best – yes, to deliver. It is as if the day is not enough to remind you that all the times in one way or another a single molecular being is expecting something from you well at least for the human body to eat something healthy or just to eat to satisfy a craving.

I find it quite amusing that in many ways delivering is a daily effort. And for most parts of our lives it has become a gauge of one’s human potential or how the society would understand who we are. Each day I believe we are confronted with expectations from every single bit of who we are. From the people we believe are an integral part of lives – family, friends, special someone, from the people who believes we are part of their lives, from the people who from the outside and have set an standard already for what we need to meet and of course from the other crazy circumstances that happens in our lives unexpectedly or even with thorough planning. So what am I saying here? I guess I reminded today that we need to deliver and in whatever capacity I can flex myself into – all kinds of personalities, shapes and sizes. J

Yes, you read that right, a lot is expected from every one of us and so what are we doing to deliver? Well for sure one important thing to do is to exert all effort humanly possible that we can to deliver. When you have exerted all your effort, certainly some thing good will come out of it. Do not be too harsh on yourself and levy too much expectation but always think to deliver. No one really has the power to understand our capacity but we ourselves, so try to deliver. If best is too much for you, then try try try to deliver. J

Man this cover of JB’s Pray is way better than the original. Makes you really want to pray for everything that’s happening around us.

Two letters. One strong word — GO.

For most FIlipinos, this has become a daily language when one actually pursues something or just simply agrees to something be — it an idea, a weird project, a crazy business plan, a death-defying adventure or a scheduled rendezvous. An expression may of us are familiar with and often we have overly used in our daily dealings but have we really GONE?

Okay, so the dictionary in my macbook defines GO as (copied and pasted)

Okay that was too much of a definition but well yeah that is to drive my point here that more than how we easily use GO nowadays some of us haven’t really GONE. Think about this, did every man actually find what they have wanted for and have literally gone after it and did everything in their might reach for it. Often one takes the easy route not realizing that the easy way in not the (excuse me for the pun) way to GO.

Or is it us holding onto something for such a long time? Or someone for some plainly absurd reason? In this case, when the things we dearly hold on to seem to draw all the energy that’s left of us. We GO, yes, we let go. Don’t keep holding into something that will stagnate are growth as a being. We let go because we want to grow. We let go because we want to discover the higher potential of ourselves and to challenge status quo. We let go because it is what is right. We let go because we have to let go.

So how does one actually GO? What does one need follow? Is there actually any set guidelines that one has to follow so that one can GO? Is there a specific checklist that must be properly ticked before ones goes or is it just something such as a spur of the moment and then you GO? You ask me, I really have no idea. I know that most of the times GOING entails sacrifice but mind you sometimes going doesn’t need a single thought at all but a single beat of the heart.

Okay, I know I am a bit delayed, well super delayed to be posting this since I think this ad came out a few weeks before Mother’s Day this year and of course in celebration of the 2012 Olympiad in London but I just can’t help posting this ad in my blog because I for one believe that indeed the hardest and most challenging gift and not only a job is motherhood. Kudos P&G for paying tribute to all amazing moms around the world. I thought to myself after watching this ad that I may not be the champion in the field of sports but hell yeah my mom made sure to it that I am a mighty champ wherever I am right now! 🙂

Heard the song just this week and man have I liked this song. It goes to everyone who is fighting all the odds that life brought upon them. Keep the fight and never give until you have looked into the eye of the opponent as it accepts defeat. 🙂

Okay, so I have read this book twice already. One was a few years back and now I am re-reading this book as I am preparing to watch this movie again. I hope this movie delivers as to how fun and poignant the book was written.

I have missed seeing Emma Watson on screen and so I am excited to watch this one. 🙂

For those who haven’t read the book yet, go get one. Stephen Chbosky’s The Perks of Being A Wallflower. 🙂

“It will happen at the right time.” This is the phrase we often hear when it comes to things that we really wanted to happen, things that we hope for or even sometimes for that person we are wishing for or sometimes it is the vague answer that we give to somebody’s question for the reason that we have really not given a single thought of that question in our whole life’s existence yet. So when is the right time?

WHEN WE GROW. I am not really pertaining to the physical growth because if that’s the case, all people who grow old may have found the best time in their lives already and yet there are still some at old age when the right time is. I a more of talking about maturity, emotionally, psychologically (I really do not have any idea but I guess it is part) and other important factors in one’s being aside from those physical ones. I guess that best decisions one can make is when we grow in maturity when we have awakened our conscience to the deeper meaning of life aside from the surface that we often focus our attention to. There are are so many questions that confront us as to when is the right time but we often take things for granted, those simple reminders that at this very moment, the right time has come. As we grow and as we become sensitive to what is happening around us, one can realize when the right time is. So be it a new job, a new home, the course that you wanted to take in college, take a look back at yourself and ask yourself if you are ready to take in this challenge. And if you are more than ready than ever, then why not?

SERENDIPITY. Now let’s talk love as most people are really conscious about that part in our lives when people ask how is your love life? Well ask me again and I’ll say I haven’t found that perfect someone yet and yes, I am for one have a great belief in serendipity. Wherein the at least expected moment and the most surprising situation could you find that someone who’ll share life with you through infinity and beyond. So why hurry? So why feel that you are running out of time, the fact that your neighbor just got married and your sister just got pregnant with her third child already. Love isn’t really something that you can hurry or picking the first one that you see in club.

ORDAINED. Wow, that’s a very deep word for me. ORDAINED. I thought I would not be using this word for this entry but I just find this word apt for my last point. I guess each and everyone of us has that specific timing in our lives. Whatever you believe in – GOD, HIGHER BEING, THE SOLAR SYSTEM – there is that some cosmic power that has ordained you and has set you apart and that has placed a track on the chronology of events that would be happening in our lives. That in mind, when the pace gets slower or faster, we just have to trust and know that we have a certain calling in this world to be at that place, at this situation, at this time because this is what the universe or our God has placed us to be right now.

So you ask me when will I introduce my special someone? Well. Maybe at the right time. 🙂

It this time of the year again where for most students after a two month hiatus and rest, they feel that mixed emotions once again as they look forward for the start of the new school year. For some, classes has already started last week and for some, it still is to start tomorrow. And with the much anticipated changes in the educational system and as it continues to create a fuzz and is starting to create an unlikely brouhaha, I would just like to leave a few points to the different concerned parties in our country’s educational system.

GOVERNING BODIES (Department of Education, Commission on Higher Education)

This is year is a very challenging year especially for the Basic Education in our country wherein certain amendments in the education system is currently being rolled out the elementary and high school level tagged as the K+12 program. I for one doubted how the Department of Education can implement this program with so much in consideration but I am keeping my faith in the organization that they can survive the early periods of this program and can successfully implement the program all throughout the country. There maybe a number of people who may be opposing this program but rest assured if the Department stick to their plans and at the same time work hard to implement the system, they can convince the detractors that they are doing what is best for the Filipino student. I am also hoping that the Department of Education can focus on helping build the morale of its main workforce, the teachers not only by helping improve their salary grade but at the same time assisting them in acquiring additional expertise in teaching and in their specific subjects so that they can impart knowledge to the students with excellence.
To the Commission on Higher Education governing the higher educational institutions, may you keep up in improving the quality of education in the tertiary level and the same time keeping the students safe from schools who are just up for the money but whose education standards are very poor.

Education will never be completer without our Sir/s/Maams, our teachers and professors. I believe that challenge is education is not only educating the minds but more so educating the character. I am a firm believer that to educate the mind one must educate the heart and not by force or by any terror inflicted in the students. I think that next to the parents, you educators are given that big task of shaping lives and molding them to become the future of our country. And with that idea, that our future of our country partly rests on your hand, I am praying that you will work hard to educate knowing that it is not always what you get from what you do that can only motivate you but it is what you can also do for the people around you.

Study with earnest fervor. Knowing that your parents works hard to put you up through this. Knowing that a good education can lead you through life’s tough times. Knowing that your teachers have gone through a lot in preparing their daily lessons. Knowing that later on you will be needing as must knowledge as you can for you to become the person that you want to be. Cut yourself some slack enjoy life being a youngster but be wary not to compromise your education.

So with the start of the new school year — SY 2012-2013, I am wishing all students the best, our educators endurance and excellence and of course to government to keep on supporting our educational system.

June 12, 1898, our country has been declared a free country — free from it’s captives, free to create its own government and free to exercise what its people believe in.

And today, we will be celebrating our 114th year as an independent country, as a free country. But did one century, a decade and four years of independence bring us as a nation into maturity or are we still mere captives of the colonial past? Have we really as country valued the independence our forefathers has fought firmly enduring the pain which in most parts lead our forefathers to sacrifice their lives for what they fight for. What did they fight for?

EQUALITY. I believe when Dr. Jose Rizal wrote his famous books Noli Me Tangere and El Filibusterismo, the book was not only intended to ridicule the church but more so Rizal was reminding us that no matter what, there are no classes in community. Letters A, B, C or even D and E can coexist with each other. Just because you are A you have the right to step on E or more importantly, we are not a caste system so why do letter labeling matter? Fast forward to 2012, has the country achieved equality for its people? As the rich become richer, are the poor starting to live a sustainable life? As men achieve greater heights in whatever field they pursue, are the women given the same right to pursue their rights? Is the government doing its best to uphold the rights of its people or just for a privileged few? Are the basic needs of a human being provided for?

SAFETY. Freedom came with a sovereign challenge for us to protect our nation and even to provide each and everyman a surrounding conducive for living. Sometimes too much freedom costs our country’s safety. There are times that we have evaded even the simplest protocols to move forward with personal agendas not withstanding that we are compromising the whole system. Does being free allow us just to do anything without conscience? Are the people safe enough to be living in their places without any fear that at a certain point in their lives any person may just snatch they very breath that they have?

JUSTICE. Is justice rendered in an honorable manner? Ethical, principled, conscientious and truthful or every judgment rendered has its price tag? Does everyone have access to the country or only a select few can only gain justice because they have the guns to be in court? How accessible is our judgment system nowadays? How fast is our justice system in expediting judgment in different issues confronting our nation?

FREEDOM OF SPEECH. I guess this is one of the important things that I want to discuss that really goes with independence. Just because we are an independent country, you are free to say anything. THAT I DO NOT AGREE. Just because you think someone said a very bad commentary, you can call him a GAGO already. And you give the excuse of freedom of speech. As much as we want to defend what we believe in, where did our respect for one’s individuality go? Where did the our belief that each has his own opinion go? Debates would always come up when it comes to expressing oneself but I believe one can express oneself without even destroying another party. Expressing oneself in a manner to state what we believe and not stepping on someone else’s. Be it a PRO-DIVORCE, ANTI-RH BILL, PRO-GAY MARRIAGE, ANTI-MINING, have we heard all those voices and listened intently to what they stand for and respected it or we keep ridiculing them?

And so I leave this question hanging for you to analyze our current situation and to decide and how you would act to help move our country forward. Tomorrow marks another year in the Philippine Independence, I myself am still hoping for better days for our country and from the looks of it, it may take another century or so but here’s to wishing that we all live a life that would leave a legacy to the next generation to shape our freedom and move our country to mature thus creating a more suitable environment for the Filipino people to live in.

Happy 114th Independence Day my beloved Philippines.
